Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell hones in on those split second decisions that define some of the biggest moments of our lives. With his dazzling abilities of story telling, Gladwell takes us on a journey using stories that not only entertain but inform us of the ways in which we make snap judgements.
One of the stories in the book highlights the work of a psychologist named John Gottman who with just 15 minutes of watching a couple recorded on tape could predict with about 90% accuracy whether a couple would still be together 15 years later, using a method Gladwell calls “Thin Slicing”.
With only 277 pages Gladwell utilizes his strengths of making interesting things known and relatable, fascinating the reader and allowing these things to be brought into conscious awareness within our daily lives.
Blink gives an in-depth view of what is going on within our minds, the often overlooked or unknown functions that can be activated and groomed into producing better life results.
Certainly if you haven’t read the book yet, get a copy and prepare to learn about the powerful super computer we take for granted.
