Show Up

Day 15 of 365.

Tonight I had a conversation that literally changed my life.

This year will be 17 years since I’ve started this journey.

I remember the first time I created my first design.

The possibilities that I saw made me fall in love instantly.

Mentors at that time were few and far between but the internet allowed me to find a few from far away.

Mentors that’ll eventually know the positive impact they’ve made in my life.

Tonight, I got to meet one of those people.

I never thought in my life that I’d meet this person (even though I imagined often what it would be like) but here’s a few things I took away.

Aim beyond the fence.

Essentially, stop limiting yourself especially after you’ve found your thing that makes you zing.

Stop waiting for the right time.

Chances are the art you’re creating seems like it’s not the right time.

But for the person consuming it, the time could never be more perfect.

You only get once chance at life.

The more you level up the more push back from the boundaries of life you’ll get.

It’ll even try to convince to you to play safe.

Or stay in the comfort zone.

The whole point however is to keep pushing forward.

Above all, show up and learn to speak for yourself.

Stop waiting on someone else to speak up for you.

Find your voice and use it.

Use it to create the good the world needs to feel.

Use it to make a difference in the life of that person you may not even realize is watching.

There’s a lot of good left inside you.

Regardless of the past. Regardless of the pain.

There’s a ton of good left.

Share it.

Nurture it.

Grow it.

The more good you give, the more you’ll receive.

But you have to be humble.

You have to not let ego get in the way.

If we stop at the dream we’ll never have true change where we seek it.

To accept things as, “That’s just life”, or “The system is against me”, is simply playing yourself.

Shortchanging the possibilities of good that could be by thinking and acting small.

You’re writing your legacy with each action taken.

What will yours be at the end if you never show up and speak up?
